Ahead of its official debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France this weekend, the 2026 BMW XM has been revealed with a refined lineup and subtle enhancements. While the current model offers three variants worldwide, the latest iteration eliminates the base trim, retaining only the flagship XM Label and XM 50e. Consequently, the XM is now exclusively available in the ‘Label’ trim, a designation previously reserved for its highest-tier variant.
Introduced in 2023 with a bold design and a 644-hp plug-in hybrid system, the BMW XM expanded its lineup in 2024 with the more powerful Label variant. As it heads into 2026, the XM simplifies its offerings by eliminating the base model and retaining the formidable 738-hp Label trim. The latest iteration also brings an array of new optional color choices for both the interior and exterior, along with an upgraded battery that supports faster charging.

Beneath its bold exterior, the XM features a powerful twin-turbocharged V-8 combined with an electric motor, producing an impressive 738 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. The 4.4-liter V-8 alone delivers 577 hp, while the transmission-integrated electric motor adds 194 hp. Power is channeled through an eight-speed automatic transmission to all four wheels, enabling the SUV to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in a reported 3.6 seconds, making it the most powerful BMW M production model ever built.

BMW has upgraded the onboard AC charger from 7.4 kilowatts to 11 kilowatts, enabling the XM to recharge its 26-kWh battery pack in just 2 hours and 45 minutes—cutting charging time by 1 hour and 15 minutes compared to earlier models.
Production for the 2026 model year is set to begin in August at BMW’s Spartanburg, South Carolina, facility, with pricing details to be announced later. Given that the 2025 XM Label starts at $186,175, a slight price increase is anticipated for the 2026 version.
