At the forefront of the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, Nio Holding and Wuhan Lotus Technology revealed a partnership focused on revolutionizing EV charging and battery swapping technologies.
This alliance targets the enhancement of battery standards and aims to create a unified network for charging infrastructure, marking a significant leap forward in the EV sector. The partnership will address several areas: standardization of battery systems, advancement of charging and swapping technologies, management of battery assets, and development of a cohesive service network.
William Li, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Nio, stressed the strategic value of collaboration in pushing the boundaries of the smart electric vehicle market. “We would like to work together with Lotus to push forward the development of the premium smart electric vehicle market, make joint efforts in technological innovation and standard unification for charging and swapping, push for a larger-scale, standardized and unified energy infrastructure network, so as to deliver efficient and friendly recharging service experiences to users,”said Li.
Qingfeng Feng, CEO of Group Lotus, underscored the strategic move aligns with policies promoting innovation in battery technology and EV infrastructure. ” Our cooperation with Nio to share with each other the charging and swapping resources will allow our users to experience the track genes and ultimate performance of Lotus while enjoying friendly services of Nio’s charging and swapping network across China,” Feng remarked.
Notably, over 80% of the power from this network supports non-Nio electric vehicles, emphasizing the company’s dedication to open access and sustainability.
Nio has established an impressive infrastructure with 2,404 Power Swap Stations and 3,776 charging stations across China, underscoring its commitment to a power service system that is chargeable, swappable, and upgradable. Notably, over 80% of the power from this network supports non-Nio electric vehicles, emphasizing the company’s dedication to open access and sustainability.
Conversely, Lotus continues to define luxury in the BEV landscape with its 800V Electric Premium Architecture, which supports superfast charging through 72 Lotus Flash Charger stations. This initiative not only redefines industry standards but also enhances the luxury travel experience for EV owners.
The strategic collaboration between Nio and Lotus is set to redefine the EV landscape by establishing new benchmarks in vehicle technology, infrastructure, and user experience, facilitating a more interconnected and efficient future in the global smart electric vehicle industry.
