Mitsubishi Motors said on Wednesday that it had reached an agreement with Foxtron Vehicle Technologies Company, a subsidiary of Hon Hai Precision Industry (Foxconn), through a memorandum of understanding (MOU). Under the partnership, Foxtron will provide Mitsubishi Motors an electric vehicle (EV) developed by its team.
As part of the MOU, Mitsubishi will receive an electric vehicle (EV) developed by Foxtron in Taiwan through Yulon Motor Company. The model is set to debut in the Oceania region—Australia and New Zealand in the latter half of 2026. The vehicle is part of Mitsubishi’s long-term product strategy for Australia, which was first revealed last year and extends through 2030.
Mitsubishi Motors has not disclosed the exact specifications yet, but it has confirmed that the EV will offer outstanding driving performance and a cutting-edge infotainment system. Neither Foxconn nor Mitsubishi Motors has specified the vehicle type.

Mitsubishi Motors Australia CEO Shaun Westcott stated that the new electric vehicle will support the company’s ‘Momentum 2030’ strategy to introduce eight new or updated models by the decade’s end. Australia will be the first market to receive the Foxtron-sourced model.
Although the all-electric model sourced from Foxtron has not been officially validated, the EV is anticipated to be a rebranded version of Foxtron’s Model B small SUV featuring Mitsubishi badging.
Foxtron’s Model B, unveiled in its production form in 2023, is one of the company’s latest offerings. Designed with styling input from Pininfarina, the EV is available in both a single-motor rear-wheel-drive variant and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration.

The Foxtron EV will help Mitsubishi Australia comply with the New Vehicle Efficiency Standard (NVES), which imposes penalties on new-car sales exceeding tailpipe CO₂ emission limits while granting credits for each EV sold.
Mitsubishi characterized its partnership with Foxtron as a key component of its wider strategy to expand its EV and hybrid lineup. As part of the initiative, the company is launching an updated Outlander PHEV and introducing HEV variants of the Xpander and Xforce in Southeast Asia.
