Tesla is relaunching the updated Model S and Model X with minor updates as the company grapples with declining demand for its electric vehicles.
Despite making up less than 5% of Tesla’s annual sales, the Model S and Model X have received another update. However, the changes are relatively minor, especially compared to the redesigns of the Model 3 and Model Y introduced over the past 18 months.
Refreshed Model S and Model X debut in the U.S. today, with a $5,000 price hike across the All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and high-performance Plaid variants. In February, the automaker revealed plans to refresh the Model S and Model X later this year. The updated versions of both models have been spotted with slight modifications recently.

Tesla now offers 20-inch Perihelix and 22-inch Machina wheels for the Model X, while the Model S comes with 19-inch Magnetite and 21-inch Velarium wheel options. The company has boosted the range by 5 miles on the 19-inch Magnetite wheels, which feature a new aerodynamic design. The improved efficiency of these wheels appears to be the reason for the range increase.
For an additional $4,500, buyers can opt for the 21-inch Velarium wheels, though it reduces the range to 380 miles—2 miles less than the previous Model S with 21-inch wheels. Meanwhile, the Model X now offers 20-inch Perihelix wheels and 22-inch Machina wheels as part of its latest update.

Tesla has introduced an upgraded front bumper camera and enhanced adaptive headlights. The exterior modifications on the Model S Plaid are designed to improve high-speed stability. The revamped suspension now features new bushings, ensuring a smoother ride. Tesla also claims that improved aerodynamics and a more advanced Active Noise Cancellation system contribute to a quieter cabin, reducing both wind and road noise.
Furthermore, the Model X offers more space for third-row passengers and cargo. Since the vehicle’s structure remains unchanged, the improvement is likely to be achieved through seat redesign or rearrangement.
The Model S AWD now starts at $84,990, while the Plaid variant is priced at $99,990. Meanwhile, the Model X AWD has increased to $89,990, with the Plaid version reaching $104,990.
