BMW has introduced the M2 Racing, its latest entry-level race car for customers. Designed as the successor to the M2 CS Racing, the vehicle has been in development since 2023 and is set for a global launch in the 2026 motorsport season.
“This car is affordable as well as offers unmatched driving performance, durability, and pleasure for racing teams and drivers. At BMW M Motorsport, supporting customer racing with easy-to-care, cost-effective, and exciting cars is a top priority,” said BMW M CEO Franciscus van Meel on Monday.
At its core, the latest M2 Race features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine derived from the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe. This powerhouse delivers an impressive 313 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque, enabling the M2 Racing to achieve speeds exceeding 270 km/h (167 mph). The engine’s output is seamlessly transmitted through a seven-speed ZF automatic transmission, expertly aligned with the advanced engineering of the BMW M Motorsport program.

Priced at €98,000, approximately $111,421 or SAR 417,828, the car takes a different approach compared to its road-going counterpart, the M2, by swapping the six-cylinder engine for a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder configuration.
Built on the M2 chassis, the race car variant incorporates elements from the standard model, such as the steering wheel, center console, and iDrive screen. Additionally, it is enhanced with custom tuning and racing-specific components. Optional additions include a rear wing, a Sabelt GT-PRO carbon fiber driver’s seat, and advanced data logging software.

The car comes fitted with a mechanical differential lock featuring dedicated cooling, BMW M compound brakes, fixed KW shock absorbers, and adjustable anti-roll bars at both the front and rear. It also includes LED headlights, a front splitter, a rear fog light, and a lightweight roof. The exterior is finished in U300 Alpine White III, offering a sleek and distinctive appearance.
Inside the cockpit, the car is equipped with a DMSB-certified welded roll cage, compliant with the latest FIA safety standards. It also features M Motorsport driving modes and an adjustable pit-lane speed limiter. For customization, BMW offers optional modifications such as an integrated air jack system, start number lighting, a silencer with adjustable exhaust flaps, passenger seat configurations, a car cover, and official M Motorsport decals.
