ChangAn Automobile has officially begun production at its first international new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturing base in Rayong, Thailand, marking a pivotal shift in its global strategy from exporting products to exporting comprehensive industrial ecosystems. The move is a key milestone under ChangAn’s Vast Ocean Plan, which focuses on establishing a global presence through intelligent, sustainable manufacturing and regional collaboration.
The Rayong plant integrates full-scale production systems, research and development operations, and supply chain mechanisms. Designed as a green and intelligent facility, the factory spans approximately 392,000 square meters and includes five core workshops, welding, painting, general assembly, engine assembly, and battery.

The facility features environmentally friendly initiatives such as natural lighting optimization, solar power, and water recycling, reducing energy consumption per vehicle by about 20%. With advanced automation and adaptive systems, the plant is built to cater to a wide range of global market demands.
Coinciding with the factory’s launch, ChangAn also celebrated the production of its 28.59 millionth vehicle, a right-hand drive DEEPAL S05 tailored for international markets. The company plans to manufacture CHANG-AN, DEEPAL, and AVATR models at the facility, aiming to double annual production capacity from 100,000 to 200,000 units by 2027.
This expansion reinforces ChangAn’s ambition to treat five overseas regions, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa, Central and South America, Europe, and Eurasia, with the same strategic importance as its domestic market in China. Since launching its Southeast Asia brand in Thailand in late 2023, ChangAn has introduced seven models and surpassed 14,000 unit sales, securing a top-four spot in Thailand’s NEV market.

The Rayong plant also represents the culmination of over four decades of ChangAn’s manufacturing expertise and reflects its commitment to excellence through lean management, local talent development, and standardized global systems.
Company Chairman Zhu Huarong described the project as a transformative step, stating, “This is a big moment for ChangAn – a giant leap from exporting cars to building a local ecosystem.” He reaffirmed the company’s dedication to globalization, collaboration, and driving innovation in the international automotive sector.
