Mercedes-Benz has shattered the electric vehicle distance record for a 24-hour timeframe, surpassing the previous mark by over 1500 kilometers with an impressive 5749km run. The Concept AMG GT XX has now achieved a remarkable milestone at Italy’s 12.5 km Nardo Ring test track, setting a new benchmark for the longest distance ever driven by an electric vehicle in a 24-hour period.
The concept car has reportedly broken a total of 25 long-distance records at the Nardò track, including covering a distance equal to the Earth’s circumference in just eight days. Powered by three axial flux electric motors and a 114kWh battery, the car boasts a top speed of 223mph and supports ultra-fast 850kW charging—delivering an impressive 400km of range in only five minutes.
The journey was accomplished in just 7 days, 13 hours, 24 minutes, and 7 seconds, well within the 8-day mark. To achieve this, the Concept AMG GT XX completed 3,177 laps of the 7.88-mile circuit, maintaining an impressive average speed of 186 mph and covering roughly 3,293 miles each day.

The AMG decisively outperformed the record previously set by the XPeng P7 earlier this month, which managed 2,461 miles in 24 hours. However, the AMG team didn’t stop there. As reported by Autocar, the GT XX went on to establish new endurance records across multiple timeframes—12, 48, 72, 96, 120, 144, and 168 hours. In addition, it set a series of new distance records, reaching 2,000, 5,000, 10,000, 15,000, 20,000, and 25,000 miles.
The GT XX’s three electric motors, one positioned at the front and two at the rear, deliver a combined output exceeding 1000kW. These motors are powered by a specialized 114kWh liquid-cooled battery, engineered by Mercedes-AMG’s Formula 1 division in the UK. Efficient battery cell cooling played a crucial role in achieving the record, allowing consistently high charging speeds and enabling the car to regain 400km of range in approximately five minutes. A top speed of 300 km/h was strategically selected to strike the optimal balance between driving efficiency and recharge intervals.

The concept car, revealed in June, was introduced to demonstrate the AMG.EA platform, which will serve as the foundation for several upcoming models, including a flagship 750kW electric SUV scheduled for release in 2027.
