MG Motor Australia has declared price hikes for its all-electric 2025 MG4 lineup. Starting July 1, the company’s smallest electric vehicle will begin at a drive-away price of $37,990. Until June 30, buyers can benefit from existing drive-away deals, which offer savings between $1,000 and $3,000. MG stated after that date, prices would be fixed and would not decrease further.
The shift comes as many consumers are weighing the transition to electric vehicles. Since its debut, the MG4 has been a strong contender in the budget-friendly EV market.
For Model Year 2025 (MY25), MG4 prices will rise across all variants except for the X-Power, which remains unchanged.

The base Excite 51 variant sees a $1,000 increase, moving from $36,990 to $37,990 drive-away. The Excite 64, equipped with a larger battery pack, will climb by $2,000, reaching $42,990. The most significant price hike is in the Essence 64 variant, which jumps by $3,000—from $42,990 to $45,990. Meanwhile, the Essence 77, featuring the largest battery and longest range in the lineup, will have a new drive-away price of $50,990.
As previously noted, the high-performance X-Power variant will maintain its current drive-away price of $55,990.
MG Motor Australia has not disclosed the reason behind the price hikes, but CEO Peter Ciao emphasized that the MG4 remains an exceptional value choice for Australian families.

The MY25 model could be the last version before an expected facelift arrives for MG4 early next year, featuring an updated interior and subtle exterior refinements to keep the design fresh. In the first four months of 2025, approximately 1,700 MG4 units were sold, marking a 6.2% decline compared to the same period last year.
Late last year, the MG4 reached its lowest drive-away price of $30,990, but since then, the base Excite 51 variant has risen by $7,000. Despite this increase, it remains more affordable than its initial launch price in 2022, which was over $40,000.
