Subaru Corporation has introduced two battery electric vehicles (BEVs) — the all-new 2026 Subaru Trailseeker and the updated 2026 Subaru Solterra — at the 2025 New York International Auto Show, showcasing its expanding electric lineup and commitment to carbon neutrality.
The 2026 Trailseeker marks Subaru’s second global BEV model, blending the driving performance unique to electric vehicles with a high level of utility. Designed for both everyday use and outdoor adventures, the Trailseeker features an active, rugged exterior, while the interior follows a clean, horizontal design theme to create a sense of spaciousness.
Powered by a 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery, the Trailseeker delivers an estimated range of over 260 miles on a single charge. It is equipped with a battery preconditioning system, allowing readiness for fast charging in both warm and cold conditions.

The vehicle features high-output dual motors, generating a maximum system output of 375 horsepower, and incorporates Subaru’s proven suspension and all-wheel-drive technologies to ensure stability and control across diverse terrains. Offering a larger cargo area and a taller roof compared to the Solterra, the Trailseeker provides greater versatility for active lifestyles. Production is scheduled to begin in 2026.
The 2026 Solterra, Subaru’s first global BEV, originally launched in 2021, has also received significant updates. Built to embody Subaru’s values of ‘enjoyment and peace of mind,’ the new Solterra delivers improved battery efficiency, enhanced driving performance, and refreshed styling.
The exterior design combines SUV capability with aerodynamic enhancements, while new features such as redesigned headlamps, a front bumper, a six-star illuminated Subaru logo, and a rear gate garnish reinforce brand presence. The interior maintains an open, comfortable design with a horizontal instrument panel theme.

The updated Solterra is equipped with a 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery offering a 25% improvement in cruising range compared to the previous model. It features a new battery preconditioning system, enabling rapid charging from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes under optimal conditions.
The 2026 Solterra is powered by enhanced front and rear motors producing 233 horsepower, while a new XT trim level introduces dual electric motors delivering 338 horsepower. As with the Trailseeker, Subaru’s suspension and all-wheel-drive expertise contribute to the Solterra’s upgraded driving dynamics. The 2026 Solterra is expected to arrive in the U.S. market later this year.
Both the Trailseeker and Solterra have been jointly developed by Toyota and Subaru under the collaborative spirit of ‘Let’s make ever-better cars together,’ combining each company’s technological strengths through close cooperation. Subaru continues to accelerate its electrification efforts as part of its broader commitment to supporting the transition to a carbon-neutral society.
