Volkswagen has revealed the new second-generation T-Roc, a compact SUV, ahead of its official debut later this year. The model features Volkswagen’s latest design language, aligning its look with the Tiguan, Passat, Golf, and ID series.
Since its debut in 2017, the T-Roc has sold over two million units worldwide. The latest version will be Volkswagen’s final new combustion-engine model, as the company plans to transition fully to battery-electric vehicles for all future releases, depending on market conditions.
The 2026 T-Roc boasts a larger overall size, a refreshed interior, updated technology, and new hybrid powertrains. It now measures 4,373 mm in length—122 mm longer than the previous model—while the wheelbase has been extended by 28 mm to offer improved rear passenger comfort. Luggage space has also increased by 20 liters, bringing the total boot capacity to 465 liters.
Volkswagen has confirmed that the new T-Roc will be the sole model built on its latest MEB Evo platform that won’t feature a plug-in hybrid variant.
At launch, the T-Roc will offer a 1.5-liter mild-hybrid petrol engine, delivering 114 hp in the entry-level version and 148 hp in the higher-spec trims.

Both variants come with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and front-wheel drive. Additionally, two newly developed hybrid powertrains are on the way, which will also retain front-wheel-drive configurations.
Inside, the T-Roc features a 10-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, complemented by a head-up display. It also retains physical controls, such as Volkswagen’s new multifunction digital rotary dial on the center console, which can be used to adjust drive modes, audio volume, or various interior settings.
The T-Roc is equipped with Volkswagen’s latest safety technologies. Standard features include automatic braking, steering assistance, driver attention monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, cruise control, lane keeping assist, and road sign recognition. Optional upgrades include adaptive cruise control, a rearview camera, park assist, and the updated Travel Assist system, which anticipates road conditions such as curves, roundabouts, and intersections, helping maintain optimal lane positioning and speed.
The T-Roc is set to launch in November and will be offered in four trim levels: Base, Life, Style, and R-Line, with additional options and packages available for customization.
